DENTAL IMPLANT FOR MISSING TEETH
Should I try to save my tooth?
If you are considering a tooth extraction or a dental implant, we are here to help. When you come in for an implant consultation with Dr. Park, he will discuss all treatment options in detail and that usually includes what can be done to save the tooth! At Park Dental, we pride ourselves in our conservative approach to dental treatments. If there is enough tooth structure to support dental restoration with the good long-term outcome, it is always better to save your natural tooth.
What is a dental implant procedure?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your gum to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or re-infection of an old root canal procedure.
What does an implant procedure entail?
The traditional implant surgery usually consists of making an incision into the gum for the surgeon to see and feel the bone width. This "flap" of the gum or detachment of the gum tissue from the bone often results in swelling, post-op pain, and longer healing time for the patient. This also increases the risk of infection for the medically compromised patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, or any other systemic conditions that can result in delayed healing.
What's a computer guided implant surgery?
Park Dental of Martinsville is proud to be one of the very first dental practices in NJ to offer a fully digital implant service.
By combining our 3-D dental x-ray combined with a scan of digital 3-D image, a surgical guide will be made. The implants can be placed at the precise position and angulation where the future replacement tooth needs to be. This computer-simulated planning minimizes the risk of nerve damage or injuring any other critical parts of the mouth.
Most implant cases can be done with the help of a surgical guide -- this means no stitches or post-operative swelling after the procedure.
